I have expensive paintings and an expensive antique cupboard. How will you move these?

For household goods with high emotional and/or financial value we can provide a packing standard as required for overseas moves. This means that the item is wrapped in bubble wrap and then in carton. If you wish, we can then pack it in a customized wooden crate for extra protection of your treasured items.

Do you also take house pets and or plants?

We always recommend that you relocate your pet(s) personally, as it is best for your pets.
Indoor plants are moved in our moving trucks; however, De Haan will not assume any liability for these plants. While the international driver will water the plants during transport, the lack of sunlight in our containers in addition to the environmental factors, such as extreme heat and freezing temperatures, are not good for the condition of your plants.

If I pack my goods myself, is everything insured?

The insurance and general terms and conditions make a clear distinction between boxes packed by the movers and boxes packed by the client. If you pack the boxes yourself, you assume responsibility for the packing; therefore, you are not insured. Yet, for example, if a mover accidentally drops a box, we are responsible.

If our house overseas is not yet available, can we temporarily store our household goods with De Haan?

This question is often asked and many clients take advantage of our storage facilities. De Haan Removals has several warehouses that meet the highest standards and requirements.

For large volume moves, De Haan offers the option of having your household goods packed at your home and placed directly into a storage container. This container is transported to our storage facility then lifted by our internal container crane and placed in our temperature controlled and electronically secure storage facility. Smaller volumes are loaded into storage vaults after they have been collected at your residence (maximum 10m3).

Can I import both household goods and a car from the USA?

Under certain conditions you can indeed import your household goods/personal effects as well as a car from the USA. The household goods need to have been in your possession for at least six months. In addition you need proof that you have lived in the USA for at least one year. The same conditions apply for a car. The car will need to pass an inspection to ensure that it meets the safety and environmental requirements. Our partner in the USA will assist you in this process.
