Breaking the glass ceiling - including your own

DE-HAAN_Wencke_portret hoge resolutie

Today I completed my first week at De Haan relocation. A wonderful company with a rich history and a great sense of service. How I truly enjoy my return to this dynamic world of removals. After a brief foray into the arts, I am now entering my 12th year in the moving industry.

I am certainly not the only woman who has lost her heart to this industry. In recent years, more and more women can be found in key positions in our field of work. A great development in my opinion, because a strong team is made up of people with the greatest possible diversity in background, beliefs and gender.

Surely it’s hard to admit, but I belong to the generation of women of which a considerable part was raised to "behave like a lady". And that meant: to be humble, be sweet, speak softly and don't talk too much. Especially those last two assignments have not been going well for me all my life. The latter for the better.
To be able to offer good service, you must speak out, listen critically, dare to present different views. And be convinced of your own qualities – and those of your colleagues. So I learned through trial and error that you can be a lady without meeting the above mentioned behavioral requirements.

In fact, to be successful it is necessary to let go of limiting thoughts and beliefs – and to help and challenge each other to dare and walk the talk! This will bring the organization, your colleagues and of course yourself to a higher quality level. This way, we together as a team, are the most reliable partner for the customer.
