De Haan relocation welcomes its first fully electric moving truck

sleuteloverdracht

De Haan relocation is proud to announce the arrival of its first fully electric moving truck, marking another important milestone in the company's commitment to sustainable mobility and environmentally responsible moving services.

The new electric DAF XD moving truck will primarily operate within the Netherlands' zero-emission zones and replaces an existing diesel-powered vehicle. This investment is part of De Haan's long-term strategy to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency and future-proof its own fleet for the evolving demands of the relocation industry.

Sustainability has long been a strategic priority for De Haan relocation. In 2020, the roof of the company's own building was equipped with nearly 500 solar panels, which currently provide renewable energy for charging its electric passenger vehicles. In 2025, De Haan successfully transitioned its entire passenger car fleet to 100% electric vehicles.

The company aims to use its own charging infrastructure and solar energy production to manage a significant portion of the energy requirements of this first electric moving truck. In addition, the introduction of an electric moving van is already planned as the next step in further reducing the environmental impact of its operations.

"We continue to analyse, reduce and optimise our operations to make every move cleaner, quieter and more energy-efficient where possible. This investment represents another important step towards our goal of operating our national moving activities entirely with electric moving vehicles by 2035."

Supporting moving partners within Europe

In addition to its national operations, De Haan has multiple moving trucks all over Europe.  The company currently runs regular routes between the Netherlands and destinations across Europe, enabling flexible planning, reliable transit times and efficient transport solutions.

All vehicles are fully equipped for moving international household goods, while De Haan's own trained crews provide professional origin and destination services. This combination of dedicated equipment, operational expertise and personal service allows De Haan relocation to support relocation partners with high-quality European moving solutions.

While these long-distance operations still rely on conventional fuel technologies, the company continuously evaluates innovations and alternative solutions to reduce emissions across its cross-border transport network. The introduction of electric equipment on a national level serves as an important step towards scaling more sustainable solutions internationally in the future.
