One can't realize sustainable moving alone

By applying the core values that characterize De Haan as an internationally certified and recognized moving and relocation specialist, we take care of our customers’ moves in such a way that they feel at home again as quickly as possible.

How do you move sustainably?

We prefer to move as sustainably as possible. How?
-By paying attention to the well-being, safety and health of our employees.
-Through active social initiatives. For example, by sponsoring access to clean drinking water in and around Mombasa, Africa. As a loyal “Gold Partner” of the Waterpas Foundation, we donate each year. This ensures that schools have reliable access to clean drinking water.
We also support regional initiatives, such as the Kinderdijk World Heritage Foundation and Stichting Quiet Drechtsteden or the initiative Relocate The Profit.
-By preventing waste and using sustainable raw materials and resources, such as the solar panels installed and the LED lighting implemented in our storage warehouse.

Focus on sustainable moving

Transport management is, of course, an essential part of this approach. And our focus on sustainability has delivered some great results! In January 2021, we started using plant-based waste oil as fuel. Electric vehicles have since been added for our field operations, and a new forklift has been put into service to make more efficient use of our cubic storage space.

You never realize sustainable moving on your own

Achieving sustainable moving is a continuous improvement process that is never truly finished—and it can never be done alone. Together with our Product for Product supplier, we turn our own waste into something useful.
In collaboration with our supply chain partner CTR, De Haan Verhuizingen also planted 196 trees in Gelderland in 2023, followed by 206 trees in 2024 and another 116 trees in the first half of 2025 in Leersum and Borneo, contributing to the protection of forests and biodiversity.

The year in which De Haan will celebrate its 249(!)th anniversary, a clear testament to the fact that sustainability is in our DNA
